A Vampire Obsession?
Perhaps. When I started writing paranormal romances, I didn’t know I could become so enamored with Vampires. Sure, I devoured Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, falling in love with bad boy, Lestat and Louis’s oh-so-tender heart. But write about them myself? I had never considered it until a group of friends and I got together and decided we were going to write a series together. And I pulled the vampire straw.
I thought, why not? And Dark Enchantments, a multi-author series for HQ Nocturne, by myself, Michele Hauf, Nina Bruhns, and Pat White was born. Dark Enchantments took us deep into the world of Demons, Vampires, and Weres and the organizations that watch and sometimes battle them. My book, RISING DARKNESS, was about a special vampire, Damien, an Adept who traps Demons inside crystal prisons. Only his brother, Nicholai is addicted to Demon essence and will do whatever it takes to steal the crystal and capture the very powerful demon for himself. Even if he has to kill Nicholai’s beloved to do it. ~Gasp!
In THE VAMPIRE’S SEDUCTION, bad boy Nicholai thinks he’s escaped England and can start again, but things don’t go well for him when he and his clan run into a coven of witches who have a secret weapon for annihilating the vampires. Out of the frying pan and into the fire? Well, what better way to keep our vampire’s hot!! Poor Nicholai finds himself deep in the witch’s lair in order to say his brethren, Marcos, who has become a very special friend to one of the witches. Whether he likes it or not. ~Oy!
In PLAYING WITH VAMPIRES, Marcos might have escaped the witches’ dungeons, but he isn’t done suffering yet. Marcos will be put to the ultimate test by a very feisty witch bent on revenge. Does he have it in him to give our witch exactly what she needs?
Yes, I love writing about vampires. They are hot, they are powerful, they are driven and most of all, they will do anything to get what they want. Which makes it all the more fun when they realize what they want is to earn the love of the woman they had no clue they even wanted.
Follow my Paranormal Romance tales and fall in love with my sexy vampires:
Damien – Rising Darkness, HQ Nocturne
Nicholai – The Vampire’s Seduction, HQ Nocturne
Marcos – Playing with Vampires, due out soon
And for a quick Nocturne Bite, don’t miss, Marius in – A Night with a Vampire

Nanowrimo – National November Write a Book in a Month – month.
It’s a mouthful. You’re supposed to write every day as much as you can unedited — basically throwing up words on a page. I wait for it all year. I get excited. I plan. I plot. I tweet. I talk about it and explain it. And everyone I know does it. And then it’s over and I feel disappointed with myself. And worse, I feel like something is missing. A purpose? A goal? Hmm.
It’s very sad.
Obviously I didn’t write my 50k words in Nov. In fact I did better last year at 25k. This year I got 17k. I don’t write that way. I have to edit. I get anxious if I get too many unedited pages. I know this about myself. And still I do it. I torture myself. Can we say self-flagellation? So why do it?
One word: Community.
I love the write-ins. I love the energy, the excitement, the twitter feeds. Meeting for coffee with complete strangers that greet you with wide smiles and prizes! Knowing there are other crazy peeps just like me out there who chose to give up real life to sit hunched over a keyboard for hours on end swizzling copious amounts of caffeine just to put onto paper this other world that has consumed our minds. My world–Vampires… Werewolves… Demons… Anything paranormal as long as it has a romance. Steamy… Sexy… Hot… Yep, I can’t seem to get enough. And with Nano I had an excuse a reason to push myself beyond the limits.
And now it’s over.
I miss my nano peeps. Those I’ve met and those I’ve yet to meet. Now I must wait another 12 months, a whole year until I can do it to myself again. Set lofty goals and try to force myself to write in a way that I don’t like just so I can share this crazy experience, the life of a writer, with all of you!
Unless….
Anyone want to start NaJaWrimo?!!

Who knew getting your name out there would be so complicated? Who knew when I said to myself, I want to write a book, not just any book, but a paranormal romance novel, that I would have to learn so much more than just awesome characterization and edge-of-your-seat plotting? Who knew I’d have to learn about websites and search engines and social marketing if I wanted to sell my great romances? Not I! Before last month, I’d never even heard the term RSS feeds. Ha! Now it seems that’s all I’m thinking about. Let me off this promotional merry-go-round. I would much rather disappear into my world of vampires and demons and all things that go bump-in-the-night! There must be an easier way, a plug-in for my brain or at least my Mac! Any advice out there in this black cyberworld hole for a cyberdummy who is yearning for geekhood?
Cynthia, who just wants to go back to her vampires.
